I watched a lot of the Yankees-Marlins exhibition game last night, mostly to check out Miami's new yard.
It is a colorful park, I'll say that.
One thing I don't understand is why they put one of the giant video boards directly behind the left field foul pole. That just isn't smart.
Also, what the hell is that colorful display thing just to the left of dead centerfield? Is this an amusement park or a baseball stadium.
Overall, it looked like a nice park with some series interior design flaws. It certainly looks like they asked a flamboyant gay guy to have at it with the designs.
I'll have to reserve judgement on the park until I see more of it. There are some things I didn't like about it but it certainly is much better than the football stadium they used to play at.
Speaking of football stadiums, this ballpark was built on the site of the Orange Bowl. So while I do miss that classic football stadium, I'm glad they build a baseball field here instead of a parking lot or housing tenement.
Also, the stadium is called "Marlins Park" for now. Until they get a corporate sponsor. I'd be interested in sponsoring the park...so long the sponsorship is for $200 a year. I could swing that. I would call it "Mysterious Walker Stadium." That might increase traffic to this blog!
