White Sox first year manager Robin Ventura took his team into Texas this weekend to face the Rangers.
Ventura was booed heartily by Rangers fans who still remember the beating he took from Nolan Ryan when he charged the mound after getting hit by a Ryan fastball 19 years ago. Ryan, 46 at the time, put Ventura, 20-years his junior, in a headlock and proceeded to punch him in the head several times thus creating one of the great all-time highlights.
Ventura and Ryan met the other day in Arlington for the first time since the incident. There were no hard feelings as you might expect from the two classy individuals.
Still, it would have been nice for Ryan to kick Ventura's ass again...you know, for old times sake.
