I used to be a fan of Ubaldo Jimenez when he played for the Rockies. I'm no longer a fan after the Indians pitcher intentionally threw at Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki today and plunked him on the elbow. Tulo and U had words and had to be separated. I didn't know there was animosity between the two.
When you throw as hard a Jimenez does and throw at a hitter, you are messing with a guy's career. Plus, in spring training a hitter isn't expecting a pitcher to just drill him.
Apparently the bad blood is over the fact that the Rockies gave Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez contract extensions before last season and didn't give a long term deal to Jimenez. So he takes it out on Tulo today? It's not Tulowitzki's fault. It's also not Tulo's fault that Jimenez pitched horribly last season and the Rockies had to trade his overrated ass to Cleveland.
When you look at Jimenez' career, he's had 3 great months. That was in 2010 when he started the All-Star game. Since then he's stunk and he sunk to pretty low depth's today by throwing at a key player.
Fortunately Tulowitzki's elbow x-rays were negative. My feelings towards Jimenez are negative too.
