Nine more men have come forward to claim that former Red Sox clubhouse manager Donald Fitzpatrick sexually abused them over the course of three decades. That brings the total of men making claims of abuse to 21 in three different states.
Fitzpatrick resigned in 1991 when charges were first brought against him and a year later pleaded guilty to attempted sexual batter of a child under the age of 12.
Assaults allegedly took place at Fenway Park and Memorial Stadium in Baltimore.
The people coming forward are looking for money and a lawyer in Boston, Mitchell Garabedian, is seeking 5-million dollars per victim.
How culpable are the Red Sox and Orioles? I don't know the answer to that.
Meanwhile, Fitzpatrick died in 2005 and dead men can't defend themselves. But with his history and the number of people coming forward you have to feel that there is plenty of merit to the accusations. Although, I wouldn't put it past someone who was never molested to come forward and try to get some money out of this.
One thing I will say and will continue to say. Child rapers and molesters should all be put to death. They serve no purpose other than to ruin the lives of their innocent victims. Rehabilitation doesn't work for them. These pieces of vermin are recidivists and must be stopped. Killing them prevents them from hurting young people ever again. Harsh? Yes. But I have no tolerance for molesters.
