Varitek Calls It Quits

One of the few Red Sox I actually liked retired today. Jason Varitek, after spending his entire career with the Bostons, said so long.
Granted, when I say like I mean it mildly. I wasn't running around waving Varitek pom-poms at all. I respected how he played the game.
But what made me an admirer of Varitek was the game in 2004 when he punched Alex Rodriguez in the face. I've frequently have wanted to pop A-Rod but of course never had the opportunity. Nor would I take it if I had it. But Varitek did it for me.
Anyway, nice career for Varitek. Two World Series titles, three All-Star games and a KO over A-Rod.
