Steve Kelley, on the air this morning, said I was going to spring training later this month to check in on the Rockies.
Well, this is news to me. Nobody has said anything to me.
One thing I have told management is that if they do send me to spring training, I'm going to drive from Denver to Arizona. I'm not about to get on a plane. For those who know me or listen to my rants on the radio about airplanes, I hate flying.
Plus, when I drive I get to see things along the way that I haven't seen before. I miss that if I fly.
When I had my book signing in Dallas in January, I drove. People were saying, "It's a 13-hour drive. How can you do that?" Simple. I get in the car and drive and enjoy the trip. I don't mind driving. Flying though makes me freak out beginning two weeks in advance.
It will be interesting to see if KNUS will send me to spring training and even more interesting to see if they will actually tell me.
I can see it now. I'm supposed to be in Scottsdale, Arizona, our general manager Brian Taylor sees me in the studio and says, "What are you doing here? You're supposed to be covering spring training."
I'll simply say, "Well, no one told me."
Here's a heads up. Kelley & Company, our morning show, M-F, 7-9 A.M. (always have to plug the show) will broadcast live (as opposed to...dead?) on Monday April 9th at B's Ballpark Museum on Blake Street across from Coors Field for the Rockies home opener. To stream the show on the internet, go to www.710knus.com. Thanks!
