Ben Zobrist of the Rays had a doubleheader to remember today against the Twins. So did the Rays as they beat the crap out of Minnesota 8-2 yesterday and took today's doubleheader 15-3 and 6-1.
In the first game of the twinbill, Zobrist was 4-6 with a couple of doubles, a home run and 8 RBI's, a Tampa Bay team record.
In the nightcap, he went 3-4 with a double, home run and 2 ribs.
For those of you keeping score at home, that's 7-10, with 3 doubles, 2 jacks and 10 RBI's. Not a bad day. He had 15 RBI's after yesterday's game. He goes to bed tonight with 25.
As for the Rays, the are playing great baseball. For those of us who wrote them off after they traded Matt Garza and lost Carl Crawford to free agency, we were sorely mistaken. Tampa Bay, which started out a putrid 1-8, has won 12 of 15 and 5 in a row. It won't be just the Yankees and Red Sox battling it out in the AL East this year. Add the Rays. Again.
