Violet Smith celebrated her 109th birthday...by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch before the Great Lakes Loons home opener.
Great Lakes is a Dodgers farm team in the Class A Midwest League.
Violet took the ball about 25 feet from home plate and bounced the throw but who cares? She practiced throwing before the game with her 72 year old son. I'm guessing Violet is the best 109 year old ballplayer in the world!
