Baseball makes no sense. The White Sox ventured into the new Yankee Stadium having lost 10 of 11. The first place Yanks were coming off a weekend sweep of the Baltimores.
So, what happens? The Pale Hose take the first two games of the series, 2-0 last night and 3-2 tonight. While Sergio Santos officially gets credit for the save, the real savior for Chicago tonight was Brent Lillibridge who made two extraordinary catches in the 9th inning. With two on and one out in the bottom of the 9th, Lillibridge robbed A-Rod's drive to the right field wall. Then Robinson Cano was robbed as Lillibridge dove for his vicious liner towards the line and caught it. Cano slammed his helmet down and I nearly threw the remote through the TV. Lillibridg...bleeping Lillibridge. To add insult to injury the guy is a utility INFIELDER. Ugh.
As for Jeter, he went 2-3 to bring his average up to .259. Somewhat alarming, of Jeter's 21 hits this season, he has only 2 extra base hits, both doubles.
He now has 2,947 hits, just 53 away from 3,000.
Hopefully I will update the Jeet-O-Meter tomorrow.
