Josh Hamilton left today's game with a shoulder injury suffered when he tried to score in the first inning when a pop up by the Tigers dugout left home plate uncovered. Hamilton, who had tripled and went into third head first, went head first into home, was tagged out and hurt his shoulder.
He also blamed his third base coach Dave Anderson for sending him home.
"It was a stupid play. I definitely shouldn't have done it. I listened to my third base coach. That's a little too aggressive."
Way to throw your coach under the bus Josh.
Anderson simply said that he tried to steal a run with two outs and that he would have sent any of his speed guys, Hamilton being one of them.
Hamilton's x-ray didn't show a separation or dislocation. We'll see if he's "day to day" or put on the DL.
Stupid play or not, Hamilton shouldn't have blamed his third base coach. If he slides feet first into home, like he should, then he wouldn't have to worry about a shoulder injury.
The Tigers won by the way, 5-4, on drunky first baseman Miguel Cabrera's 9th inning RBI single. Just the 4th win for Detroit and the 2nd loss for Texas.
