Freak Show

With one out in the 7th, Carlos Gonzalez rapped a clean single to right field, the first hit of the night for the Rockies against the great Tim Lincecum.
I was watching the game on TV and by the 3rd inning it was apparent that Lincecum had "no-hit" stuff. Is stuff is pretty good anyway but tonight it was electric.
By the 6th inning I was lamenting not going to the game. I've always wanted to see a no-no in person and because I get up at 4 a.m., I usually skip night games during the week.
The Giants sent a message to the Rockies with an 8-1 win. Lincecum went 7 2/3rd innings allowing just 3 hits, that one run and 10 punchouts.
So I'm glad The Freak didn't pitch a no-hitter because if he did I would be bummed out that I didn't go.
The closest I've come to seeing a no-no was in April of 1987 when Jaime Moyer of the Cubs took a no-hitter into the 9th at Veterans Stadium against the Phillies. I was really hoping for the no-no but Juan Samuel led off the bottom of the 9th with a clean single to center.
Oh well. I'm still waiting to see my first no-hitter in person. I'm just glad I didn't miss my chance tonight.
