DL for UJ

The Rockies have placed top gun Ubaldo Jimenez on the disabled list with a cracked cuticle on his pitching thumb. I can hear Andy Cornell now saying, "A cracked cuticle puts him on the DL? Really? Oh, I hope it's not career ending."
The Rockies made the right move. Jimenez couldn't get any spin on his curveball on Opening Day and its best to get the situation resolved now than to wait and have it get worse. The biggest danger would be if he changed his grip and ended up with a sore arm.
So scratch Ubaldo from his next start in Pittsburgh. If you are a pitcher you would hate to miss pitching against the Bucs. Colorado called up Greg Reynolds from Colorado Springs to take Ubaldo's spot in the rotation.
